What if I need to  cancel a game at short notice?

Please contact the opposition secretary and the assigned referee at the first opportunity, also contact the Fixture Secretary and the Referees Secretary. Contact the Result Secretary on the day of the game to confirm the game was not played.  Please make sure a cancellation is the last resort as a fine of up to £35 will be imposed and you may lose the points.

 

 

 

FAQ

When do I need to register players by for a game on Saturday?

A club secretary needs to be in receipt of the registration form counterfoil before the  player can play.  This means that the form must reach the Registration Secretary on a Thursday along with an SAE to enable the post office to return by Saturday.  Confirmation may be given in the form of an e mail, text of phone call.

What do I need to do before the game?

On Monday confirm with the away team the ground details, kick off time and the colours your team will be wearing.  Also contact the assigned referee and confirm the time of kick off and ground location.  Don’t forget your players!!!!  On match day confirm that the pitch is playable ASAP, make sure the lines are OK and before kick off check the nets.   Make sure you have a watch, whistle and flags in case the referee is unavailable.

What do I need to do after the game?

Please ensure that the result card is filled in with all players and scorers, substitutes need not be inserted unless they played.  Also ensure there are both secretaries, signatures and a referee name and mark on the card.  Please also pay the referee.   Have a think about the game and then ring the result in to the Result Secretary along with any noteworthy occurrences. POST THE CARD as soon as possible.  Don’t forget to pay the ref on home games and share the costs on cup ties.

How do I transfer a player from another club?

Ensure with the losing club secretary that the player is free of debt.  Contact the Registration Secretary for the documents required and get the player and the losing club sec to sign.  Present the transfer docs to the Registration Secretary as per the usual process.

How many players can I use in a game?

Apart from the eleven players taking the field at kick off, 3 substitutes can be named and up to three played.  In the Kent junior cup 5 substitutes can be named and three played.  In Semi finals or Finals every player must have played at least four games for your club.

When do I need to pay bills/fines?

All fines must be paid as soon as they are received.  Please make all cheques payable to the “Gravesend Football League”.  A failure to pay a fine on time may result in a further fine to cover admin time of the league officer.

 

How can I check the players that I have signed for my club?

At the start of the season each club is given a form to capture details about players.  If this is lost or misplaced please contact the Registration Secretary for a download from Mitoo.  If done by e mail there will be no charge.

Who pays for the referee on cup games?

The referee’s fee to be shared between both teams.  If a game is cancelled the referee will be paid by the defaulting team.

Are the Gravesend Football League fines out of line with reality?

1. Don’t turn up at a league meeting £20.00 for the first offence, £30 for the second £50.00 for further offences. (£20.00)

2. Sign a player that is already registered with another team (we had several cases last season)  1st Offence £25.00, 2nd £35.00 further £50.00 ( GFL A telephone call from registration secretary, no fine imposed)

3. Failure by the club not presenting full list of players and players details when requested by the league £50.00 ( GFL would present the club with a full list of players and detail for a £2.00 admin fee + postage)

4. Late kick off?  First offence £10.00 2nd £20.00 3rd £30.00 (GFL £10.00)

5. Forget to call the ref £15 first £20 subsequent. (GFL £10.00)

6. Didn’t get a full team out ? £10.00 per player (GFL £2.00 per player)
