Mallinson Hospital Cup Final The Old Prince of Orange 1 Viewpoint 3 Saturday, 05 April 2008 Viewpoint completed a hat-trick of Mallinson Cup wins with a 3-1 success against The Old Prince of Orange. Aaron Brown struck the post for Viewpoint after 10 minutes, while Prince's Robin Taws had an effort ruled out for offside after half an hour.
Prince had the slight advantage of the slope in the second half, but it was Viewpoint who opened the scoring with a low drive from Dominic Hewett.
Viewpoint were awarded a penalty shortly afterwards and Hewett stepped up to take it, but Prince's keeper made a fine initial save. However, he could only parry the ball to Viewpoint's David Goodwin who made no mistake from the rebound.
Taws gave Prince hope when he halved the deficit, but Goodwin had the last say when he added a decisive third for Viewpoint to secure victory.
Gravesend League Chairman, Tony Scott, presented the cup to the winning skipper, much to the delight of the large contingent of Viewpoint supporters. |
