I was elected as Vice-Chairman of the League in 2005 and had previously been the Referees Secretary  from 2003-2005.

Having played football for Empire Paper Mills, Springhead United and Valley Rovers I became a qualified referee in 1978.  Moving up the refereeing ladder officiating on the Kent and Ryman Leagues.  I also acted as assistant referee on the Conference League.  I was chosen as Referee for the Kent Senior Cup Final in 1991-92 season, the highest accolade for a Referee in Kent.

I also acted as the 4th official at football league matches including West Ham and Crystal Palace amongst others.  I was also a Division 1 council member for the KCFA.

First Joined the Gravesend Football League for Fleetway Printers in 1978.  The club was formerly known as Springfleet Albion before a name change in 1980.  I was club secretary until I finished playing after 25 years.

I was elected to the Gravesend Football league Council in 1997 and am currently Secretary of the Gravesend Hospital Challenge Cup Competition.

I now enjoy watching the game and am a season ticket holder at Ebbsfleet United.  My true affiliation is to Tottenham who I have supported from childhood.

Please see the link to my Football Resume

Roger Bowen

I have played football in Gravesend since 1985 on Saturdays for Regent Medway when they first began (Later New Falcon & Dover Castle) for many years.  I had a break when the family were growing up and played for Meopham in the 2002/3 season.  2007/2008 I transferred from Meopham to Fleetway Printers.

2008-2009 I will be secretary of Meopham Football Club and hopefully playing for Meopham reserves.

Sunday teams included Mark Lane, The Grapes, Istead United, Tonics and many “Guest Appearances” for others.  I also had two seasons in the Medway League.

I was elected to the League Council for the 2007-2008 season as Registration Secretary and develop and manage this website.

Also currently Chairman of Meopham Football Club and Racing Secretary of Gravesend Cycling Club.

Council Member—Gary Kennard

I started playing for Empire Paper Mills in 1960 and it was my only club except for a single season with Heathside Youth in 1963.  I took over as secretary of EPM in 1966, a position I held until the team disbanded in 1996.  I then joined the League Council the following season and took the position of Assistant Secretary when Derek Carey took over as General Secretary and added the position of Fixture Secretary at the start of the 2004-2005 season, I have been the Team Manager of the League’s representative teams since 1997 with varying degrees of success.

I was lucky to win many trophies in my playing career with EPM and had great success as my time as secretary.  I revelled in the fact that in my playing time I was likened to Norman “Bite Yer Legs” Hunter.

I was honoured with the K.C.F.A. Long and Meritorious award for services to football in Kent in 2004.

Text Box: Committees

Played adult football from 1959 with Sun Life in the London Insurance  Offices Football Association and won a League winners medal that season.  I joined Belhus United in 1960-61 in teh Dagenham & District league and won division 1 and a challenge cup that season.  The medals were presented by Les Allen of Tottenham.  Then married so did not play until 1968-9 season with Wilmington and won division 2 that season.

I was secretary for Wilmingtion and arranged fixtures for all 5 teams.  I played for Wilmington until 1982/3 season when AZ 82 were formed.  With AZ 82 we won 5 sportsmanship trophies before joining Gravesend Football league in 1997/8.  We won the Curtis cup in 1997/8, Division 3 in 1999/2000 and the Everden Cup in 2000/1.

I played three games last season to be the oldest registered playing footballer in the G.F.L.
